Folger-specific note
Manuscript bibliographical note in the hand of J.O. Halliwell-Phillipps: "... These [four] leaves were found at Bristol [England] some years ago in the binding of a copy of Thomas's Rules of the Italian Grammar, 4⁰ 1567. ..." A few manuscript markings. The leaves retain conjugacy, but are damaged and silked, affecting text. Cropped, affecting headline and text on C4. Bound with this is leaf B1 of 'The tragedy of Darius' from one of the early 17th-century editions of William Alexander's Monarchic tragedies (either STC 343 or 344). With a printed bibliographical (sale catalogue?) description of these leaves pasted on the back free endpaper. C19 red goatskin binding; stored in a green goatskin pull-off box. Provenance: James Orchard Halliwell-Phillipps copy; Marsden J. Perry copy (Folger file)
