Title
Look, a White! : [electronic resource] philosophical essays on Whiteness / George Yancy.
Published
Philadelphia : Temple University Press, 2012.
Description
1 online resource (xiv, 207 pages)
Summary
"First, Yancy explains to whites that they are more dangerous and frightening to blacks than some (many? all?) whites take blacks to be. Second, he invites whites to develop a white double consciousness to mirror the black double consciousness that W.E.B. Du Bois claimed blacks could not avoid having. As a result, Look, a White! is much more optimistic than Black Bodies, White Gazes. This time, Yancy directly addresses whites, in their better selves of double consciousness, to get them to see themselves as blacks see them"-- Foreword, page x.
