From dealer's description: "LATIN DOCUMENT SIGNED BY BOTH JAMES I AND QUEEN ANNE AS THE MONARCHS OF SCOTLAND KING JAMES I (1566-1625). James was King of Scotland as James VI from 1567 and King of England and Ireland as James I from 1603 until his death in 1625. He followed Elizabeth I, married Queen Anne of Denmark in 1589, and is best known for his translation of the Bible. QUEEN ANNE OF DENMARK (1574-1619). Anne was Queen of Scotland from 1589 and Queen of England and Ireland from 1603 until her death in 1619. DS. 15” x 18”. 1 pg. 1598. Edinburgh. A vellum document signed “Jacobus R” and “Anne R”. Both signers were then the monarchs of Scotland. This is a Latin-language official document signed by both King James I and Queen Anne of Denmark. The document is a confirmation of the benefices of the monastery of Dunfermline for William, the son of Andrew Cairns. It is endorsed on the back as “Compositio fourtie pounds”. The document is in very good condition, especially for its age, and is written on thick vellum paper that has been folded. The signatures are moderately dark."
