From dealer's description: "67: Giuseppe Maria MITELLI: Gioco di Madona Bernardina Mastra di Scola, così parla a' suoi Scolari. (Game of Schoolteacher Madona Bernardina, as she speaks to her pupils). 1692. Etching. H290(440)xL390(600)mm. Trace of an old vertical median fold. Some light redness/color change, short tears and creases in the right margins. Weak impression for the upper part of the subject (the first three lines of text). Signed and dated “1692 / Mitelli I.E.F” at the point at the bottom of the subject. Printed on watermarked laid paper (letters P.M in a crowned circle). All the margins are there. Game board with a scene of a schoolteacher surrounded by her 11 pupils, each carrying out a different activity and marked by a number between 1 and 11. On the top of the composition, there is the title and a text in Italian describing the characters from the scene; along the feet is a line with the rules of the game.
