Folger-specific note
From dealer's description: "80. VEGA CARPIO (LOPE FELIX DaE). Las Comedias del famoso poeta Lope de Vega. - Milan, a costa de Iuan Baptista Bidelli Librero, 1619. 8°; 622 pp., 1 blank leaf. Contemporary rustic paperboard, manuscript title to spine and to lower edge. A couple thin wormtrails to the second part of the volume, touching some letters only in few occasions, and to upper blank margin of the last two leaves. First and only edition printed in Milan, published while the author still lived, of 12 comedies of the celebrated Spanish writer Lope De Vega (1562-1635), dedicated to Juan de Figueroa Villegas. Issued for the first time in 1604 in Zaragoza, these represent only the first part of the vast production of the prolific playwright; over 1800 dramatic works have been attributed to his name, reduced by scholars to 726, whose text has been preserved only for 470 of these. Palau VII, p. 129. Heredia 2369."
