Puremalt was a "fermented malt tonic" to assist in digestion, bolster nutrition, and treat loss of appetite. It was advertised as chiefly containing malt and alcohol ("not exceeding six per cent") with added "hydrophosphates of iron and lime." It was apaprently manufactured by Charles A. King, although his name did not always appear on the advertising.
King's Puremalt Department is listed at 36-38 Hawley Street, Boston, in advertisements after approximately 1912. Earlier advertisements list Puremalt Department (sometimes Pure Malt Department) at 60 or 70 Conant Street, Boston.
