Folger-specific note
Described by a bookseller's catalog entry glued to its flyleaf as "Knight's Land we live in : the chapters on Stratford-on-Avon, Windsor, with Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor, and Edinburgh ... used by Charles Knight when visiting the respective places, and bought at his death by Charles Dickens, whose library label it contains." From Folger art cataloger in 1980s, "This information is doubtful since Dickens died three years before Knight. The book does however bear the bookplate of Dickens' Library, dated 1870. Bought by the Folgers July 1904, of Pearson."
