Copy by Bergen Evans of annotations from Edmond Malone's copy of Gerard Langbaine's An account of the English dramatick poets (London, 1691; Wing L373) at the Bodleian Library (Malone 129-132).
Note
In addition to his own annotations, Malone had included notes on this text by William Oldys, George Steevens, and others. Steevens lent his copy of Langbaine in which he had copied Oldys' annotations and added his own annotations, and Malone transcribed the entire set of annotations into his copy. At the end of the fourth volume of his interleaved copy, Malone wrote "30 March 1777. I finished this transcript of Steevens & Oldys notes to Langbaine." Malone kept this transcription for the rest of his life, adding others' notes to it in addition to many of his own.
